The winemaker

A cooperative winery that has brought together winemakers for generations

In 1997, the winegrower-cooperators of the Prissé, Sologny and Verzé wineries decided to pool their specific strengths and know-how. These three cooperative cellars produced 1.3 million bottles at the time. A century later, it is almost 6 million bottles that are produced each year, bringing in a turnover of 24 million euros. Each winery had its own vinification tool but was not equipped alone to really start marketing. It was by joining forces that they gradually achieved such an impressive result.
Since 2007, Michel Barraud is the president of the cooperative cellar and continues to work to maintain this harmony. In concrete terms, the production tools of each of the three wineries have been preserved and put to good use for the cooperation. In Sologny, the crémants and red wines are processed, in Verzé the white wines and in Prissé the selected Mâcon-Villages, the Saint-Véran and the Pouilly-Fuissé. The bottling is finally done in Prissé. It is this very precise and meticulous organization that has allowed this winery to grow to such a size.

A singular approach, an original project

Since the beginning of the 20th century, these Vignerons des Terres Secrètes are men and women from the Mâconnais, driven by the same passion for the land, who work together in exceptional vineyards. The commitment to this winery is first of all a human adventure. Indeed, these men and women must work in a cooperative spirit, without losing sight of the company's economic performance. It is a human adventure anchored in a sustainable development approach.
The Vignerons des Terres Secrètes winery has moreover obtained the Vignerons en Développement durable label. This charter is based on a deep respect for biodiversity that translates into the implementation of methods adapted and calibrated to the different needs of the territory such as plowing and grassed rows to limit the use of chemicals. Thus, these winemakers must take into account upstream the impact of each of their actions on the environment.

The richness of terroirs

Located between the Saône and Grosne rivers, the Mâconnais vineyards take their roots in clay-limestone soils. Les Terres Secrètes located in Prissé, are the second largest cooperative player in the Mâconnais with 900 hectares of vines. Finally, close to the land and following each parcel with meticulousness, the Terres Secrètes Winemakers have an almost perfect knowledge of their parcels, thus offering numerous wine appellations: Saint-Véran, Pouilly-Fuissé, Mâcon... in white wines, Mâcon, Burgundy, Pinot Noir and Passetoutgrain in red wines, and Crémant de Bourgogne in sparkling wines.
