In Burgundy, at the southern end of the Côte de Beaune, the 392 ha of the Santenay appellation are planted on the first slopes of Mont-de-Sène. A region of history and tradition, the area's first human settlements date back to prehistoric times, while the Château de Santenay, also known as Château Philipe le Hardi, still bears witness to the terroir's attachment to the Dukes of Burgundy. The etymological origins of the commune date back to Roman times, when it was famous for its thermal waters and its "Santinae aquae" spring, which translates as "healing waters". Our vines are planted on southeast-facing slopes, with brown limestone soils on a highly fragmented subsoil of Middle and Lower Jurassic age.
