Starting from Beaune, Nuits Saint Georges is the first large village on the Côte de Nuits, just after Prémeaux Prissey and before Vosne Romanée. The two communes of Nuits and Prémeaux Prissey produce wines bearing the Nuits Saint Georges appellation. The soils are mainly composed of limestone and marl, and their perfect eastern exposure produces superb wines.
