In a few words ...

Domaine henri gouges - nuit saint georges 1er cru clos des porrets 2017the creation of domaine henri gouges began in 1920, but only for the sale of grapes to neacute;gociants. In 1933, he envisioned a higher-quality wine on his new estate, and so produced, bottled and sold his vintages directly. The estate has remained a family property over the years, with a succession from henri to his sons marcel and michel, and then to the next generation of pierre and christian, who recently entrusted it to grégoire and antoine gouges. Located in the heart of the "côte d'or" in the village of nuits saint georges, they now have 10 hectares of vines and a modern gravity-flow vinification facility where they produce burgundy, village and premier cru wines. Respect for the land, the environment and the region's traditions is at the heart of their winemaking. Careful attention to the soil and vines has resulted in fruit of the highest quality, while yields have been controlled for optimum results. This is a monopoly estate of around 9 acres. It is located just below the perries. It is a former quarry of nuits saint georges, which was exploited by the monks of citeaux. Sitting on the stony pink limestone of Premeaux, Clos des Porrets is composed of chalky boulis and clay-rich soils. The wines from this parcel express a remarkable finesse after only a few years in bottle. Dr. lavalle cited the porrets in 1855 when he wrote his documentary on Burgundy wines. In his book, he describes it as one of the best vineyards in the village.
