The winemaker
History
Founded in 1860 by Zéphir Régnard in Chablis, Maison Régnard was taken over by Baron Patrick de Ladoucette in 1984. Heir to a line of well-known French bankers, he decided in 1972 to devote his time and fortune to wine. Driven by a passion for wine, he has never ceased to perpetuate the traditions of the vineyard and appellation, and to improve the style and specificity of his wines.
Well-known in the Loire Valley, he reigns over some of the region's finest appellations, including La Poussie in Sancerre and Comte Lafond in Menetou-Salon. His name is particularly attached to Pouilly-sur-Loire, with Château du Nozet, a family stronghold since 1767, producing a Pouilly fumé considered the best in the world for its finesse and complexity.
Maison Régnard de Beaune, located in the heart of Beaune, is housed in a mansion on rue des Tonneliers, with cellars dating back to the 18th century. Since the Middle Ages, this street has been linked to the production and marketing of Burgundy's finest wines.
The Maison Régnard vineyard in Chablis is also one of the last to have its cellars, winery and winery in the historic center of Chablis.
The vineyard
Committed to a growing wine tourism activity, the estate offers wine lovers and connoisseurs tastings and tours of the vineyard, allowing them to discover the estates' cellar. Visitors are then welcomed into a private cellar to taste ten of the Chablis cuvées paired with appetizers.
The minerality of the Chardonnay is very much in evidence. To appreciate the fruit, no artificial reinforcement or intensive barrel ageing: the structure and depth of the wine are enough to express the terroir and identity of the different appellations.
The wines
Maison Régnard produces a wide range of wines: the 7 Grands Crus, the 5 main Premiers Crus, Chablis, Petit Chablis à Chablis and the most famous appellations of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune: Gevrey Chambertin, Chambolle Musigny, Chassagne Montrachet, Meursault, Beaune...
Maison Régnard is characterized by the great diversity and exceptional quality of its crus.
In 1992, Baron Patrick de Ladoucette imagined the Grand Régnard, an exceptional cuvée presented in a unique 18th-century bottle. Produced from the estate's finest Chablis plots, this cuvée is the ideal expression of Chablis fruit and terroir every year. Full-bodied and velvety, it expresses all the richness of the terroir and the white-fleshed fruit aromas of Chardonnay.
