This domaine defends with conviction a personal stylistic vision of its wines. Tender, easy to digest, never extracted or woody, they offer a natural fruitiness that's astonishing, even if the whites sometimes seem to be on the verge of being covered in sulfur. A pioneer of biodynamic viticulture for thirty years, emmanuel giboulot was much in the news in 2013 and 2014 for having been condemned, then acquitted, after refusing to treat his vines against flavescence dorée disease. The cuvée terres maconnaises from domaine emmanuel giboulot is made from chardonnay vines planted in 1991 on brown calcareous soils inherited from the Middle Jurassic period. This cuvée is made from three parcels a few hundred meters apart in the commune of Chardonnay. The grapes are harvested by hand. The whole grapes are pressed and cold-settled for around 24 hours. The clear must is fermented in old oak barrels (minimum 4 wines), to preserve purity and minerality. The wine is then aged on its lees for around 12 months before bottling.
