The winemaker

The history of Jean-Claude Boisset

Maison Jean-Claude Boisset was born in 1961, when Claudine and Jean-Claude Boisset met in Gevrey Chambertin. Jean-Claude was 18 at the time.

By 1970, Jean-Claude Boisset's wines were being exported to Europe. The company moved to Vougeot, then to Nuits Saint Georges, where it remains today. From the 1980s onwards, the company diversified, producing spirits (in 1988), as well as sparkling wines on the eve of the 1990s.

Since then, Maison Jean-Claude Boisset has expanded into new terroirs: Beaujolais, Languedoc, Rhône and Jura, with the takeover of the historic domaine - and the largest in the department - Maire & Fils. The second generation of the Jean-Claude Boisset family has taken over the running of the estate, and Nathalie and Jean-Charles Boisset are now in charge. They work closely with a young Burgundian, Grégory Patriat, who is in charge of wine-making.

The Jean-Claude Boisset winery is housed in the historic Ursulines building. Dating back to the 17th century, the building offers the best conditions for maturing wine. It was built taking into account its orientation to the sun, the position of the stars and the cycles of the moon.

The Jean-Claude Boisset vineyard

Maison Jean-Claude Boisset is an empire in Burgundy, encompassing over thirty brands. The parcels are mainly located in the Côte d'Or, on the Côte de Nuits at Nuits Saint Georges, on the Côte de Beaune, as well as in the southern part of Burgundy, on the Côte Châlonnaise.

The main grape varieties are Pinot Noir for red wines and Chardonnay for white varieties.
