Characteristics of Olivier Merlin's terroir and vineyard
The Olivier Merlin estate is located in the Mâconnais, in the southern part of the Burgundy vineyards. From La Roche Vineuse to Chaintré, the Olivier Merlin estate is divided between several parcels covering 22 hectares. Each parcel is associated with a wine. On a predominantly clay-limestone soil, the grape varieties present are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Gamay, the emblematic grape of Beaujolais.
The wines of Domaine Olivier Merlin
The domaine produces AOC white wines: Mâcon La Roche Vineuse, Pouilly-Fuissé, Mâcon Villages, Saint Véran and red wines: Bourgogne Rouge, Moulin à Vent and Beaujolais Villages. White wine production is highest, with thirteen cuvées. Red wine is marketed in four cuvées. Beaujolais is the smallest production.
