The story of DOmaine Nadine Ferrand

In 2000, on the death of her husband, Nadine Ferrand took over the Burgundy winery. She had mastered vineyard work, having helped her husband since 1984. However, she had to learn how to make wine and manage the business. In this very masculine environment, Nadine Ferrand overcame many sexist prejudices and gradually made her mark. When Nadine took over the estate, sales were mainly to wine merchants. She equipped herself with thermo-regulated vats, a press, new barrels and developed the bottling side of the business. Hard-working and full of humility, she doesn't hesitate to call on an external service provider to master the vinification process. Nadine Ferrand describes herself as "always having doubts": this is certainly what drives her to be ever more demanding, and thus on the path to excellence.

Nadine Ferrand produces around 90,000 bottles a year, notably Pouilly Fuissé, Saint-Véran, Mâcon-Solutré-Pouilly, Mâcon-Village and Mâcon Blanc. A new tasting cellar was inaugurated in 2018. Nadine Ferrand is the story of a strong-willed woman, constantly driven by new projects. Her brother-in-law, Bernard Denuziller, doesn't hesitate to quit his job to come and support her. A novice in the wine business, Nadine trained him to manage the vineyard side of the estate. Her daughter Marine leaves the United States to join her mother. Nadine Ferrand is serene: the succession is assured so that all that has been achieved will continue. Mother and daughter bring a modern, feminine touch to the estate and its wines.

The wines of Domaine Nadine Ferrand

Domaine Nadine Ferrand is certified HVE Level 3 (High Environmental Value). The vineyard flourishes on Jurassic clay-limestone soils. Chardonnay is the exclusive grape variety of this vineyard, planted on small cirques at an altitude of 250 - 300 meters and benefiting from an East-South-East orientation. The wines of the different appellations are matured in stainless steel and enamel vats and oak barrels, depending on the cuvée, which also determines the ageing time. Precise temperature control is ensured by a flag system in each container. Crémant de Bourgogne is matured in bottles (traditional method). Bottle ageing lasts between 16 and 18 months.

Choosing a "Pouilly Fuissé" to accompany foies gras, crayfish, fish and white meats with cream is an excellent choice. A "Saint-Véran" will go perfectly with fish, shellfish, andouillettes, poultry and goat's cheese. Go for a "Mâcon" for charcuterie and shellfish. "Ambre Vendange d'automne" reveals its aromas with foies gras and desserts. Crémant de Bourgogne" can be served as an aperitif, but also with seafood and shellfish. It's also perfect with apple or lemon tarts.
