The winemaker
This family-run estate in Chassagne-Montrachet, Côte d'Or, was created after the First World War in a former coaching inn, and sells its production worldwide. Following in the footsteps of Marc Morey, son of founder Fernand, the estate is now managed by his daughter Marie-Josèphe and her husband Bernard Mollard. The vineyard covers around 9 hectares, mostly planted with Chardonnay (supplemented by one hectare of Pinot Noir and a few dozen acres of Aligoté), with the Puligny and Chassagne-Montrachet vineyards producing some of the finest white wines in the Côte de Beaune. Viticulture is carried out using the "lutte raisonnée" method, and the soil is ploughed to respect the environment. Vinification is traditional: after an initial fermentation in vats, the wines are placed in oak barrels to complete their fermentation.
