The winemaker

The name of this winegrowing family is intimately linked with Nuits-Saint-Georges. The Chicotots have been present in the commune for ten generations, and Georges, currently at the head of the domaine, is the family's seventh winemaker. His father Lucien, along with others such as Gouges and Trapet, was behind the introduction of the Burgundy appellation contrôlée system in 1936. He handed over the reins of the domaine to his son in 1971, who has been working with his wife Pascale for the past 15 years. The couple vinify separately, which creates a healthy competition between them, and contributes to the rising quality of the domaine's wines. Today, the estate covers 8 hectares centered on Nuits-Saint-Georges, with parcels in Ladoix and Aloxe-Corton, including 2 hectares of 1er Cru. Georges and Pascale, respectful of their terroirs and traditions, make wines from fully mature Pinot Noir grapes. Long vinifications are carried out, without destemming the grapes, and the wines are aged in oak barrels. The wines are neither filtered, fined nor aerated during bottling, as they are kept under carbon dioxide, which ensures natural protection.
