The history of Domaine Bruno Clair

Bruno Clair founded his winery in 1979. He began by purchasing parcels in renowned Burgundy areas: Marsannay la Côte, Fixin, La Dominode in Savigny lès Beaune and the "En la rue de Vergy" area of Morey Saint Denis.

In 1986, Domaine Bruno Clair expanded considerably and became a family operation when Bruno's siblings entrusted him with their vineyard plots with evocative names: Clos de Bèze, Cazetiers, Clos Saint Jacques, Vosne Romanée, Clos du Fonteny and Chambolle Musigny.

In 1993, Domaine Bruno Clair bought new parcels - Corton Charlemagne, Pernand Vergelesses and Aloxe Corton - then in 1996 Gevrey Chambertin Petite Chapelle.

Today, Domaine Bruno Clair covers 25 hectares.

The Domaine Bruno Clair vineyard

Domaine Bruno Clair's headquarters and winery are based in the commune of Marsannay la Côte, but its vineyards are spread over 7 villages and 28 different appellations. Each parcel is carefully tended to express the character of its terroir, while respecting its own identity.

Domaine Bruno Clair grows carefully selected Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vines. The estate is run with the utmost respect for the environment. No chemicals are used, and natural composts are used instead. The soils are treated with care, especially the high slopes which are particularly vulnerable to erosion.

The grapes are harvested and sorted by hand.
