The winemaker
Since its foundation in 1946, Maison Auvigue has proudly promoted the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation. Initially a recognized wine merchant, it became a négociant-vinificateur before acquiring vineyards in the very heart of this prestigious wine-growing region.
Belonging to the Auvigue family means having a burning passion for the terroirs of Pouilly-Fuissé. For many generations, Sylvain Brenas-Auvigue, great-grandson of the founder of this illustrious house, has wandered the vineyards surrounding the villages of Pouilly and Fuissé.
In 2016, he took over the reins of Maison Auvigue. His love for the Southern Mâconnais and its vineyards is undeniable. It's in this exceptional setting, particularly around the Roche de Solutré, that the vineyards, veritable aromatic gems, produce exceptional grapes giving birth to remarkable wines. Sylvain maintains a close relationship with each of the plots he farms, whether they be the 8 hectares of property dedicated to "Pouilly-Fuissé", or those he sources from his friends and winemaking partners, long-time loyal collaborators of Maison Auvigue.
As for the grapes purchased, they undergo a rigorous selection process, coming exclusively from the best plots in the Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran and Mâcon appellations.
