The winemaker
Philibert Jacques Angélique Morot began marketing wine from his vineyards in 1820. His son Albert took over the reins in 1880, and his name became that of the estate: Albert Morot. The first half of the 20th century was a difficult period, with the requisitioning of wine for the Germans during the war. The company struggled to re-emerge after the war. Sales began to pick up again in 1952, with the arrival of Guy Choppin (still from the same family) at the head of the estate. Year after year, the Albert Morot estate became more emancipated, sales grew, including internationally, and 2015 saw the release of the first certified organic vintage.
