In a few words ...

Morgeot has long been Chassagne's flagship appellation. It's still very representative of the village's style. The wines are more or less rich, depending on the clay content of the soil and the hard work of the winemaker. The origins of the appellation's name seem to come from the Latin Margo, meaning "border". Morgeot lies on the departmental border between Côte d'Or and Saône-et-Loire, corresponding to an ancient Gallo-Roman boundary. A magnificent 12th-century building built by the monks of Cîteaux in the heart of the appellation is falling into ruin. When you see the budgets invested in buildings made of sheet metal from China, it says a lot about our desire to respect our history.
