The winemaker
The producer
Maison Bichot was founded in 1831 by Bernard Bichot. The family bought its first vineyards in 1931, in Volnay, with the determination to control all stages of production. Albert Bichot pioneered international trade in the early 20th century. Subsequent generations continued to develop this aspect of the business, and invested heavily in the estate with the construction of modern viticultural facilities.
Maison Albert Bichot has been under the management of Albéric Bichot since 1996. Firmly rooted in tradition, he is also looking to the future by continuing to invest, driving the transition to organic farming and striving to enhance the value of Burgundy wines.
He is also developing the family heritage. Today, Maison Albert Bichot comprises six wine estates in Burgundy, each retaining its independence, but all with the style and quality so dear to Albert Bichot.
The company practices sustainable viticulture and winemaking with the least possible intervention. Maison Albert Bichot is deeply attached to respecting the natural balance of the terroir, as well as preserving nature and the quality of the soil.
The Albert Bichot estates and wines
Burgundy's exceptional terroir has become a cultural heritage in its own right: the climats of Burgundy are precisely delimited parcels of vines benefiting from specific climatic, geological and human care conditions. UNESCO recognized their "Exceptional Universal Value" in 2015, and the climats de Bourgogne have thus been listed as a World Heritage Site. The six estates making up the Albert Bichot heritage are spread throughout Burgundy, from Chablis to Beaujolais, on these exceptional terroirs.
The Château Long-Depaquit
A 65-hectare vineyard, cultivated using a sustainable approach and producing several Premiers Crus and six Grands Crus cuvées. The wines are elegant, authentic and mineral. In particular, it produces Chablis Grand Cru Moutonne, a wine made from vines grown on an exceptional plot with ideal climatic and geological conditions.
Le Domaine de Rochegrès
Located in Moulin-à-Vent in the Beaujolais region, it comprises 3.5 hectares of old vines, most of which are 80 to 100 years old. Four estates are farmed organically.
They practice natural agriculture and have obtained Agriculture Biologique certification. All their wines carry the "vins biologiques" label since the 2018 vintage.
Le Domaine du Pavillon is in Côte de Beaune, near Pommard. Of the winery's 15 hectares, four are monopole Pommard "Clos des Ursulines". Production comprises 12 cuvées, including two Grands Crus, one made from Chardonnay grapes and the other from Pinot Noir.
Château Gris has the particularity of having vineyards cultivated on terraces, which is quite uncommon in Burgundy. Domaine Adélie covers almost eight hectares and produces high-quality red and white wines.
The Domaine du Clos Frantin in Nuits-Saint-George consists of over seven hectares in the Côte de Nuits, including nearly four hectares of Grands and Premiers Crus. The vines have been certified Organic Agriculture since 2012.
Today, the Albert Bichot estates cultivate numerous appellations, and this great Burgundy house produces exceptional wines, while promoting the region's exceptional winegrowing heritage.
