The history of the Château La Garde estate
The estate's current owner, Dourthe, acquired the Château La Garde estate in 2000. The terroir, described as exceptional, motivated Dourthe to proceed with the purchase of the château property in 1990. Since then, the estate has been modernized and emancipated to keep up with the times.
Characteristics of the Château La Garde terroir and vineyard
The estate's different grape varieties are perfectly adapted to the soil types of Château La Garde wine production. Today, no less than 12 hectares of vines are worked and maintained with rigor and passion, avoiding all use of chemicals and insecticides. Today, several parcels of vines are cultivated either organically or biodynamically.
The wines of the Château La Garde estate
Like other estates and vineyards in the Bordeaux region, the Château La Garde estate produces different types of wine. The vineyard is planted with 70% Merlot, just over 15% Malbec and between 10 and 15% Cabernet Franc.
