Vignobles André Lurton- Château la Louvière
(33 customer reviews)
"La Louvière", named after the many wolves roaming around, is recorded in English registers as far back as the 14th century. The Château was then a modest dwelling in the middle of a clearing. Over the years, a vineyard took shape on one of the best terroirs in Graves. It was at this time that all the conditions were in place for Château La Louvière to produce prestigious wines under the Pessac-Léognan AOC label. Find out more

The winemaker
Seven hundred years of history at Château La Louvière
Between 1398 and 1620, the Château was owned by the de Guilloche family, who exchanged and purchased plots of land and added turrets to the main building. In 1618, the last heir sold the property and its grounds to the Reverend Carthusian Fathers, who, lacking the means to maintain it, donated it to the Chartreuse Notre-Dame de la Miséricorde in Bordeaux. Thanks to the rigorous management of the Carthusian monks, the estate was restored at a time when the economic climate was very favorable to the development of the wine industry. In the 18th century, the excellence of their wines was recognized. The monks exported their wines, increasing their reputation. During the French Revolution, the clergy's property was confiscated. Jean-Baptiste Mareilhac won the auction for these forty hectares. The Bertrand-Taquet family bought it from him in 1911, but left the estate abandoned. In 1965, André Lurton, a passionate winegrower, fell in love with La Louvière and restored the château and vines, bringing the estate back to its former glory.
Vignobles André Lurton's environmental policy
The Bordeaux Wine Environmental Management System was created in 2010. The winegrowers who adhere to it are committed to respecting terroir and biodiversity, and to making quality their fundamental value. In 2011, as conscientious students, Vignobles Lurton obtained ISO 14001 certification (recognized internationally) before obtaining High Environmental Value certification in 2017.
The wines of Château La Louvière
These wines are produced under the Pessac-Léognan AOC.
"Château La Louvière - Rouge" is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. This perfectly balanced wine, with its ruby-red color and violet highlights, goes perfectly with guinea fowl, mushrooms or Roquefort cheese.
"L de La Louvière - Rouge", the estate's second wine, is an elegant, round and fruity blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Recommended with roast pork with mushrooms, stuffed tomatoes or Gouda cheese.
"Château La Louvière - Blanc" is one of the great dry white wines of Graves.100% Sauvignon Blanc, this wine is fine and elegant, and will be particularly appreciated with baked fish, goat's cheese or hard cheeses.
"L de La Louvière - Blanc (100% Sauvignon Blanc) is a fresh, fruity wine that will enhance your fish dishes, risotto or veal shanks.
"Les Lions de La Louvière - Blanc" is a complex and all too rare wine! In fact, it's only produced when climatic conditions lead to the appearance of Noble Rot on the grapes (on average every seven years). It's a complex wine with a yellow color dotted with golden highlights. Great as an aperitif, with foie gras or desserts.
