The winemaker
When Claire and Daniel Lafoi met, their passion for wine led them to decide to make winegrowing their profession. The year 86 marked a decisive turning point in their lives. They finally realized their dream, setting up on a wine estate in St Ciers d'Abzac, 10 km north of Libourne.
The winegrowing adventure began and continued for 35 years, before being handed down to the second generation with the arrival of their eldest son LoÏc in 2011. He took up a new challenge: to live his passion while adapting to the challenges of tomorrow. In 2014, he began converting to organic farming, marking a turning point in the evolution of the farm and the company: a return to nature and the plant, listening to its needs to give the best of what it has to offer.
Located on the back slopes of the Fronsadais region, the majority of the vineyard is planted on a south-facing plateau overlooking the Saye valley. The sandy-loam soil rests on a clay formation of Fronsadais molasses, producing supple, fruity wines. Lower down on the hillside, there are outcrops of limestone with a more clayey soil, producing more powerful, concentrated wines.
