The winemaker

Jan and Florian took over their father's vineyards in 2014, only 2.8ha at the time, named Château Clos fontaine. The vines are in a south/south-east-facing combe planted exclusively with Merlot. Having acquired a taste for viticulture, Jan and Florian took over Château Bouty in 2015, 5ha in a single block on the lovely terroir of the Belvès de Castillon limestone plateau. Vineyard planted with 100% Merlot, age of vines: 60 years. Sheep come to help us limit weed growth in autumn and early spring. Our Merlot grapes have thick skins and large berries, and the fruit is highly concentrated. A real fruit bomb! In the heart of the Castillon appellation, on one of the highest points in the commune of Belves, lie the 14 hectares of the Chateau Robin vineyard, an ancient cru that has existed for over 200 years. Seven amphitheater-shaped parcels facing south-east make up this vineyard on clay-limestone terroir with occasional rock and iron dross. After passing through Chateau Bouty, the sheep come to help us limit weed growth in autumn and early spring. Each parcel is vinified separately, in crude concrete vats. The Malbec and Merlot grapes are round, juicy and fresh, while the Cabernets are full-bodied and smooth. After ageing in French oak barrels, the wine is bottled without filtration.
