Carillon d'Angélus is the second wine of Château Angélus. It was born with the 1987 vintage and represents 20 to 30% of the estate's production, depending on the year. It is made from a variable percentage of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested in part from unclassified plots in clay-limestone and clay-sand-limestone soils. The vines receive the same care as those producing Château Angélus. The same attention to selection and precision is applied to both harvesting and vinification. With this in mind, the wine is aged in barrels for a slightly shorter period, with only half new wood. As a result, Carillon d'Angélus has its own identity and style. Medium-ageing, it is appreciated for its fruity aromas (plum, morello cherry) and velvety tannins. J. Suckling: 94-95/100
