    In a few words ...

Located near the Châteaux Ausone, Clos Fourtet and Trottevieille, Château Soutard is a renowned Saint-Emilion cru. Owned by the same family from 1895 to 2006, it is a historic landmark of the medieval town. Located to the north-west of Saint-Emilion near the Pomerol appellation, Château La Tour-Figeac is a neighbor of Château Cheval Blanc 1er Grand Cru Classé A in the appellation. It shares a common history with this cru, since until the end of the 20th century? when it was still part of Château Figeac? The largest estate in Saint-Emilion, Château Figeac sold 37 hectares of its highest vines, known at the time as "Les Montilles", in 1879. Two years later, these parcels were divided in two, giving rise to the châteaux la tour-figeac and la tour du pin-figeac. Named a Grand Cru Classé in the first Saint-Emilion wine classification in 1955, the château was bought by the German Rettenmaier family in 1973. The latter appointed Michel boutet as estate manager, before he became director of château 1er grand cru classé canon-la-gaffelière and clos de l?oratoire. In 1994, otto maximilian rettenmaier took over from michel boutet at the head of the estate on the so-called "graves de saint-émilion" plateau. The family quickly enlisted the help of consulting scientist Stéphane Derenoncourt, and began replanting part of the estate to increase the proportion of Cabernet Franc from 30% to 50%, thus taking advantage of the exceptional terroir shared with Châteaux Cheval Blanc and Figeac. Robert Parker regularly highlights the quality of the estate, as he did for the 2009 vintage, when he awarded the château a 93/100 rating: "copious aromas of blueberries, raspberries and truffles. Full-bodied and powerful, it offers excellent freshness".

    Tasting notes

    Appearance

Teinte rubis, avec reflet violacés dans la jeunesse.

    Aroma

The red fruit notes are highly concentrated, behind which develop a wide range of aromas, including vanilla and leather from barrel ageing...

    Wine Fruity

    Taste

Les trois cépages principaux de l'appellation s'assemblent et se complètent pour magnifier l'ensemble. Le merlot apporte du fruité, quand le cabernet sauvignon donne des tannins et le cabernet franc des notes épicées.

A fruity nose with hints of toast, and a long finish that makes it a perfect match for red meat dishes.
