The Saint Emilion vineyards have been listed as a World Heritage Site since 1999. It is the largest wine-growing region in the Libourne region. st emilion wines are fleshy, spicy and often marked by a fruity note. the great king louis xiv dubbed them "the nectar of the gods".the wines have an intense red color with notes of red or black fruit on the nose. The tannic structure becomes silky and mellow with ageing, and the aromatic palette is enriched by more complex spicy notes.
The 1998 vintage was very good. The dry, hot climate enabled the grapes to ripen beautifully, with thick skins that saved them from the September rains. The great wines are complex, elegant and fine. The St Emilions and Pomerols produced velvety, powerful wines, while the Margaux and Graves were more focused on fruit and finesse.
