The puisseguin appellation takes its name from puy (mountain) and the name of Charlemagne's lieutenant seguin, who built an imposing château. Produced mainly from Merlot, the wines have an intense color, red fruit aromas and animal notes. Aging, often in barrel, refines the tannic structure and enriches the bouquet with toasty, vanilla nuances.
The 1979 vintage produced a fine harvest in both quality and quantity. The wines are harmonious, balanced and fruity. With good ageing potential, the great wines are magnificent today. Long underestimated, this vintage remains excellent value for money.
