    In a few words ...

On the Belleyme map of 1785, the name "clinet" can be read as "cline", among other names for castles located around the old church. The name comes from the old French word "cliner", meaning "curved" or "leaning" during the 15th century. This term refers to the slope of the famous Pomerol plateau, allowing the vines to drain naturally. To the west of the Pomerol commune lies one of the appellation?s most famous crus, Château Clinet. First built in the 19th century, it was owned by the constant family, then by the arnaud family, who were also behind the creation of the prestigious pétrus estate, which they managed from the 18th century until 1945. It was then acquired and preserved for many years by the Audy family. In 1980, the château experienced a real turning point with the arrival of jean-michel arcaute, son-in-law of the previous owner. Supported by michel rolland, he devised revolutionary vineyard management methods, such as green harvesting and over-ripening. He was also responsible for developing the estate?s international reputation. In 1998, jean-louis laborde bought the estate and continued its transformation, before handing it over to his son ronan in 2003.the philosophy of the domaine clinet team can be described in these few words: "our commitment in memory of the past? Remain humble in anticipation of the future". This modesty enables them to produce wines of the highest quality, as Robert Parker attests with his 100/100 rating for the 1989 and 2009 vintages: "This great Pomerol develops an opaque, inky-blue color with purplish highlights. It also reveals wonderful aromas of blueberries, incense, truffles, raspberries and liqueur with a hint of smoke. Fat, multidimensional and silky, this wine with soft tannins offers intense fruit concentration and structure. Dire

"Une sève assez dense, avec des accents de mûre et de myrtille, matière équilibrée, il y a de la puissance et de l’élégance."

    Taste

The tannins of the Pomerols are rather robust, we will wait a certain maturity to find a perfectly balanced wine. Note the presence of ripe black fruits including blackcurrant, and sometimes truffle.

An extraordinary wine, just wait wisely in the cellar and it will be reaching for the stars in a few years' time.

Very present fruity notes, good length on the palate, a little too aggressive for my taste, but it will mellow with time.
