The Certan de May vineyard, one of the highest in the appellation, adjoins Petrus. Its old vines, with an average age of thirty years, are planted on clay-gravel soil. Harvested late and thus benefiting from the full ripeness of the grapes, this Pomerol proves to be of a very high standard. The wines are well-balanced, rich and complex, combining woody and fruity aromas (cherry, blackcurrant). Ageing potential is impressive in great vintages.
