Planted mainly on warm terroirs, the reds were affected by sometimes excessive temperatures. Scalds (June 27) and blocked ripening, as well as particularly meticulous sorting in the vineyard to ensure that only homogeneous bunches were kept, significantly reduced harvest volume. Fortunately, the summer rains boosted the ripening of the reds, and the mild September led to a fine ripening of the late Merlots on clay and the Cabernets. Round grape vinification was favored, with gentle extraction to enhance grape expression. Despite a difficult vintage, the wines are full of promise.
