The geographical area of Pauillac lies in the heart of the Médoc peninsula. The terroir is ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines have an intense, deep color. The nose offers aromas of red and black fruits, spicy notes and hints of roasting. This bouquet is supported by a fine tannic structure. Pauillacs are great wines for laying down.
The 1988 vintage is a classic, with an advantage for the Right Bank. Some Pomerols and Saint Emilions eclipsed their 1989 and 1990 younger siblings in elegance. The red wines were very tannic, very colorful, very complex. These are long-ageing wines, which can be expected to develop a fine, powerful bouquet as they age.
