The younger brother of the 1er Cru Classé Château Lafite Rothschild, Carruades de Lafite (AOP Pauillac) comes from younger plots and has a higher proportion of Merlot than its elder brother. Hand-harvested, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are vinified separately, then blended and aged for 16-20 months in barrels (80%) and vats (20%). This dark-colored red wine opens delicately on the nose, with fresh, fruity notes. The palate is supple and spicy, with lively tannins, ideal for tasting with game or red meat.
Appearance
Dense, dark garnet color, drawing on purple in its youth.
Aroma
The bouquet consists of black and red fruits, roasting, licorice and leather.
