Baron de Brane, nicknamed the "Napoleon of the vines", acquired Château Gorce in 1833. A pioneer in viticulture, he was well aware of the reputation and potential of this exceptional terroir, located on the best slopes of Cantenac: he devoted all his energy and fortune to it. In 1838, wishing to leave an indelible mark, he chose to rename Gorce: "Brane-Cantenac". In 1925, the Lurton family bought this prestigious cru and, from generation to generation, has perpetuated the complex, aromatic and delicate style of wine for which Brane-Cantenac is renowned.
Appearance
Dense, dark garnet-red color, tending toward violet in its youth.
Aroma
In the Margaux appellation, black fruits such as blackberry and blackcurrant, sometimes cooked, are combined with an empyreumatic quality that gives off hints of roasted coffee and licorice.
Wine Fruity
Taste
On the palate, the best Margaux wines are those that have perfectly integrated their tannins into their structure, giving them roundness. The nose's aromas of black fruit and tertiary flavors such as leather and vanilla are also present.
