Appellation Loupiac
The Loupiac AOC, in the Entre-deux-Mers vineyards
Loupiac is an appellation of 344 hectares, located around the commune of the same name. The sweet white wines produced within the appellation are made from Sauvignon, Semillon and Muscadelle. The grapes are harvested by successive sorting, i.e. in several stages, so that each grape is harvested having reached an ideal stage of maturity.
The vines benefit from an oceanic climate, but above all from a microclimate allowed by the proximity of the rivers, which favour the development of noble rot, a fungus that allows the production of sweet wines. The soils of Loupiac are mainly argilo-calcareous.
Taste the sweet wines of Loupiac
Loupiac reveals a golden and intense coat. The nose offers scents of ripe or even candied fruit. In particular, we smell figs, as well as honey and roasted notes. It is not uncommon to detect gingerbread, citrus, sultanas or prune.
On the palate, the wine is fat and very balanced. The length is pleasant and there is a finish on dried fruit and other aromas felt on the nose. With age, the wine will develop some smoothness.
Loupiac goes well with aperitifs, foie gras, fine fish in sauce, blue-veined cheeses, but also red or exotic fruit tarts.
