In a few words ...

Haut Médoc is located upstream from the Gironde estuary. The gravelly composition of the soil encourages the cultivation of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are concentrated and tannic, requiring at least 6 months of ageing. When young, the nose offers aromas of red and black fruits, evolving towards spices and vanilla to a greater or lesser extent with ageing. Haut Médocs are great wines for laying ... down.
1995 was a very fine summer. In September, however, growers thought it would be a repeat of the 1994 vintage. Rain arrived on the 7th, but it was sparse and concentrated, so there was no dilution effect, especially as the vines were suffering from drought. Fine weather returned on September 17. Read more
