In a few words ...
Haut Médoc is located upstream from the Gironde estuary. The gravelly composition of the soil encourages the cultivation of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are concentrated and tannic, requiring at least 6 months of ageing. When young, the nose offers aromas of red and black fruits, evolving towards spices and more or less vanilla with age. Haut Médocs are great wines for laying down.
1993 was a small vintage. The harvest was poorly presented, with some rot. The wines tasted well when young, but aged very unevenly. The red wines were deep and intense in color, well-balanced and well-structured, with harmonious tannins.
