The Wine I LoveEstimated delivery between 26 and Dec 28,
Haut Médoc is located upstream from the Gironde estuary. The gravelly composition of the soil encourages the cultivation of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines are concentrated and tannic, requiring at least 6 months of ageing. In its youth, the nose offers aromas of red and black fruits, evolving towards spices and vanilla to a greater or lesser extent with ageing. Haut Médocs are great wines for laying down.
1978 was a fine, classic-style year, when vegetation took its time. As is often the case in vintages where the sunny autumn brings maturity, the wines were slow to open up.
"Purplish purple. Arcins' bouquet is of good intensity and displays a fine balance between nuances of breeding and dark berries. On the palate, the wine has a charming attack. Full-bodied, fresh and well-balanced. Fruity, suave and persistent finish."
