In a few words ...
Chateau du Carillon is a blend of 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 70% Merlot, giving it good ageing potential.
Fronsac wines offer a complex bouquet of red fruits and spices, with dense tannins that are always elegant, and generally well-coated and very ripe.
The 1999 vintage was shaping up well overall, with quality and quantity. But once again, a violent storm on September 5 wiped out 10% of St Emilion. The situation in the other appellations was no better, but the winemakers were able to save the ripe grapes thanks to the September sunshine. The winemaker's hard work will be recognized by the wine's structure.
