The winemaker
A family story
The Mitjavile family is not just a family of winegrowers, it's a family of enthusiasts who develop a style by playing with all the parameters: the vagaries of the climate, special pruning of the vines, meticulous manual harvesting to obtain grapes at optimum ripeness, blending after careful pressing... To this can be added a mature reflection on the different terroirs on which the family members have settled.
Exceptional wines
The family's favorite grape variety, Merlot is exploited in all its facets, and each cru manages to excel in its own interpretation of the variety, producing wines as unique as they are characterful. In addition, Mitjavile's prowess lends a certain tannic strength to their wines, making them ageing wines that can be drunk early without cellaring. Each year, the wines produced benefit from modernized techniques, without breaking with the classic, emblematic style of the house. As Loulou says, "We never change our ways! 45 years and counting!"
At Domaine de Cambes, several cuvées are made with passion and rigorous craftsmanship. Small vintages and great vintages are produced at this winery. Some have notes tinged with freshness, while others offer powerful, woody aromas.
