Château Patache d'Aux
(21 customer reviews)
We're off to the Médoc to discover Château Patache d'Aux. The name comes directly from its history: the Chevaliers d'Aux, descendants of the famous Armagnacs, were the first owners. In 2016, this Cru Bourgeois Supérieur was bought by a certain Antoine Moueix, a big name on the Bordeaux scene. Find out more

The winemaker
His story
The first accounts of Château Patache d'Aux appear during the 17th century. The Chevaliers d'Aux created the estate in 1632 and set up their headquarters on these Médoc lands. However, vines did not arrive on the estate until much later. The winegrowing event that triggered it all took place in 1710, when Simon-Pierre d'Aux, then a second-generation member of the Seigneurs d'Aux, planted vines for the first time. Ten years later, he produced the estate's first grape harvest. Business was booming for the estate, and new production tools were needed. In 1779, a new vat-house was built. One generation followed another, bringing with it modifications and techniques of cultivation and winemaking. All these details enabled Château Patache d'Aux to achieve Cru Bourgeois status in 1932. From 1964 to 2016, the estate was commissioned by the Lapalu family, who succeeded in bringing it to the forefront. In 2016, it was bought by Antoine Moueix...
A Médoc like no other
Situated in the commune of Bégadan (Médoc), the 58-hectare vineyard pleases with its originality. The parcels, separated by several kilometers, do not have the same characteristics, leaving the winemaking teams with some of the most exceptional blending choices. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are the vineyard's two flagship grape varieties, vinified with a subtle touch of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. Tasting a wine from Château Patache d'Aux is an invitation to travel: beautiful structure, silky tannins, a well-controlled woodiness and a freshness that stands the test of time...
