The winemaker

The History of Château Duhart-Milon

Its name refers to the hillsides of Milon and the Seigneur de Duhart, who owned a residence in Pauillac. In the 18th century, viticulture developed in the commune, and the château's wines became one of the second wines of Château Lafite. Thereafter, the estate passed through a succession of owners until it was bought by the Rothschild family in 1962.

Chateau Duhart-Milon terroir and vineyard characteristics

The estate now covers 76 hectares of vines. Due to its geographical location, it lies on a soil of fine gravel mixed with Aeolian sands overlying a limestone subsoil. The grape varieties are 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot.

The wines of Château Duhart-Milon

The Château presents three categories of wines under the Pauillac appellation. The most prestigious, Duhart-Milon, is composed of 65 to 80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20 to 35% Merlot. This wine is rich, balanced and elegant. The other two wines are Moulin de Duhart and Baron de Milon, in reference to the château's history.
