The winemaker
The history of this wine estate dates back to the early 19th century, when the Saintonge family purchased a few hectares of vines in the Entre-deux-Mers region.
At the time, the estate produced Bordeaux appellation wines.
In 1970, Saintonge granddaughter Anne-Marie Perier and her husband Francis Perrier decided to give the estate a new lease of life. This new lease of life involved enlarging the estate from 16 hectares to 50 hectares, including 3.5 hectares in the Saint-Emilion appellation.
The family estate was also renamed Domaine d'Arpaillan. With a passion for vines and wine firmly rooted in the family, the 4th generation, represented by the children of Francis and Anne-Marie Perrier, is now carrying on the tradition. In 2000, Dominique and Nathalie added their own stone to the edifice with the construction of an underground barrel cellar, which offers exceptional aging quality and enables the family to expand its wine range. With wines in the St Emilion, Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur appellations, the quality of the wines has only improved with the years and the new techniques that Dominique and Nathalie have been able to introduce.
Family know-how is of paramount importance to the estate, which emphasizes the quality and generosity of its wines. Passing on this know-how is just as important, and the 5th generation will soon be taking over this wonderful adventure.
