The winemaker
The story of Cheval Quancard
Cheval Quancard was founded in 1844, by Pierre Quancard, a wine merchant and winemaker in the Bordeaux region. He settled on the premises of an old coaching inn and worked with his sons. Jean, the banker, ran the business, while Eugène, the youngest, worked on wine production and trading.
In 1869, Eugène's son Marcel took over the business. This is how the family passed on from Cheval Quancard. Raoul, Marcel's son, made the horse the emblem of the company at the dawn of the 60s. He wanted it to reflect the image of his company, which was one of the leaders in the Bordeaux wine trade.
1998 was a turning point for Cheval Quancard, which moved from Ambarès to Carbon-Blanc. With an additional 17,000 m², the brand considerably increases its bottling and storage capacity.
Roland Quancard is put in charge of international sales, which he energetically develops. Today, 40% of production is reserved for export.
Viticulture as seen by Cheval Quancard

Thanks to all these efforts, Cheval Quancard has acquired certifications of excellence and trust:
-IFS certification since 2009 at the highest level;
-BIO certification as a processor since 2007;
-ISO 14001 standard, Environmental Management System (EMS)
