The winemaker
The history of Château Valandraud
The story of Château Valandraud began in 1991 when Jean-Luc Thunevin and Murielle Andraud, a passionate couple, bought the estate with their life savings. At the time, the plot purchased was 0.6 hectares in size. Today, almost 9 hectares of the estate are dedicated to wine production.
Chateau Valandraud terroir and vineyard characteristics
At this estate, the vines grow on clay-limestone soils and the grapes are harvested by hand. Vinification takes place in stainless steel, wood and thermo-regulated concrete vats, while fermentation takes place in 100% new barrels for 18 to 30 months.
The wines of the Château Valandraud estate
Château Valandraud produces wines classified as "Saint Émilion Grand Cru". Several cuvées are produced on this estate using rigorous selection and technical processes. All wines produced at Château Valandraud are made from a wide variety of grape varieties: 65% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec and 1% Carmenère.
