The winemaker
The History of Château Tour de Pez
Located in the hamlet of Pez, this wine estate has existed since the 16th century. Then part of a Saint-Estèphe cooperative, it was renamed Château Tour de Pez by the Soulard family in 1931. Bought out by the Vignobles de Larose group, Château Tour de Pez became Vignobles Responsables, and is now recognized as one of the Saint-Estèphe appellation's finest wines.
Chateau Tour de Pez terroir and vineyard characteristics
The vineyard is divided into 39 parcels on which 19 hectares of vines are cultivated. The terroir is composed of clay and clay-limestone soils. The highly diversified terroirs protect the vineyards from the vagaries of the climate. The grape varieties are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
The wines of Château Tour de Pez
The Château presents two wines: Tour de Pez, distinguished among the crus bourgeois de Bordeaux du Médoc. Recognized for its high environmental quality, this is a full-bodied wine. Les Hauts de Pez is the second wine produced. It is also classified in the Saint-Estèphe appellation and has the Terra Vitis label.
