The winemaker

Château Sirio is a 12-hectare estate in the Graves appellation. The 18th-century estate is surrounded by vines and woodland. A natural wetland with a pond and bamboo groves makes this a preserved environment, ideal for sustainable viticulture.

Sustainable viticulture

This family vineyard was acquired in 2015 by a Franco-Irish couple, Fabrice and Emer. Committed to sustainable viticulture, they nourish the soil in a way that respects nature, with manuring based on plant and organic composts. No chemical weedkillers are used on the estate, and the vines are grassed over to stimulate microbial life. Each plot is harvested separately at optimum maturity.

Wines that express all the typicity of Graves

The special feature of the Graves terroir is the presence of pebbles in the soil, which absorb heat during the day and release it at night. Thanks to their passionate and precise work, the wines produced by Fabrice and Emer express all the typicity of this terroir:

Château Sirio Rouges (Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes) : Elegant and structured yet fine and aromatic. Lots of freshness and fruit on the nose. On the palate they develop fruit notes (plum, blackcurrant, cherry) with lightly smoky touches, all on a fine tannic structure.

Château Sirio Blancs (Sauvignon blanc, Sauvignon gris, Sémillon grapes) : A nose of citrus and white flowers with a hint of beeswax. These wines offer a fine balance between the liveliness of Sauvignon and the roundness of Sémillon, with good minerality through to the finish. These dry whites go well with a wide variety of dishes, from aperitifs to desserts.

This terroir magnified by the dedication of a family is regularly recognized and rewarded : Reds: Château Sirio red 2020 Grand Gold Medal Frankfurt International Wine Trophy 2023 Château Sirio rouge 2021 Silver Medal Concours de Bordeaux 2024. Aut bibat aut abeat

A little anecdote: on the Château Sirio label, the Latin saying "Aut bibat aut abeat" ("drink or retire") testifies to the mistrust of non-drinkers at banquets in Roman times. Non-drinkers were suspected of being spies, ready to extract valuable information when tongues were loosened during the course of the evening!
