Terroir characteristics of Chateau Saint Estephe
The vineyards of the Bordeaux region are divided into six zones: Médoc, Graves, Entre-Deux-Mers, Libournais, Blayais and Bourgeais. Between the Gironde and the Atlantic Ocean, Chateau Saint Estephe is located in the Médoc. It's one of the most prestigious terroirs, boasting such renowned appellations as Pauillac, Saint-Julien, Margaux and Saint-Estèphe. The red grands crus are the best known.
The wines of Chateau Saint Estephe
Red wines are made from Cabernet-Franc, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit-Verdot grapes. The blend produces powerful, slightly tannic red wines with long ageing potential.
