Château Rousselle was founded in 1636 by Chevalier Jean de Tortati, on the hills overlooking the Gironde
Gironde between the towns of Blaye and Bourg, just across the Médoc peninsula from Château
Margaux. While local archives can attest to the fact that this region has been cultivating vines since the 2nd

as a "premier bourgeois" in the 1868 edition of "Bordeaux et ses vins" by Messrs Feret and Cocks,

the 23 hectares are planted at an altitude of 30 to 60 meters above sea level, on north-facing brown clay-limestone soils. The vines are planted with traditional Bordeaux grape varieties
Merlot, Cabernet franc, Cabernet, Sauvignon and Malbec.
Château Rousselle is certified to level 3 (like the Bios) in "HVE" for High Environmental Value.
