The winemaker
The Maréchal-duc de Richelieu, who was very attached to the wine, gave it the coat of arms that still hangs on the label. But Château Pouget truly entered the history of great Bordeaux in 1855, when it became the fourth Grand Cru Classé.
The Maréchal-duc de Richelieu was the inspiration for Château Pouget's coat of arms and motto. "Love will spread its power over your heart. Your words will be as clear as a rooster's crow. Like the Lion you will not fear the shock. If with cestuy nectar you fill your belly."
Since 1906, the estate has been in the hands of the Guillemet family. As an experienced technical director, Lucien Guillemet ensures that his wine expresses the beauty of these gravelly soils that are the stuff of dreams the world over. With him, Château Pouget is managed with conviction and subtlety.
Château Pouget took its name from François-Antoine Pouget in 1748. Margaux par excellence, an astonishing marriage of depth and finesse. At Château Pouget, particular attention is paid to the harvest date, so as to obtain grapes at optimum maturity, sorted both in the vineyard and in the cellar, expressing all the finesse of this great terroir.
