Château Nodoz
(6 customer reviews)
The winegrowing origins of Château Nodoz go back several centuries. Before the French Revolution, the land was planted with vines, and the "Cru de Nodoz" produced renowned wines. After several changes of ownership, the Magdeleine family bought the estate in 1930 and still runs it today. Château Nodoz produces cuvées in all three colors, regularly recognized by industry experts. Find out more

The winemaker
The winery
The estate is located north of Bordeaux, on a gravelly hillside and is divided between three communes, Bourg sur Gironde, Lansac and Tauriac. The 38-hectare vineyard stretches along the right bank of the Gironde. It benefits from plenty of sunshine thanks to its south-west, east and south-east exposure.
Viticulture with a focus on quality and respect for the environment
The Magdelaine family has been working at Nodoz for nearly a century, using methods that respect the environment. Yields are controlled and the quality of the wines produced remains the priority. Convinced that caring for the vines starts with caring for the soil, the family carries out soil analyses to determine the needs of each plot and, if necessary, adds humus or encourages grass cover. These technical and strategic choices have paid off, as Château Nodoz cuvées have won numerous awards over the years.
The wines
The cuvée tradition "Château Nodoz" is produced from vines planted mainly in the commune of Tauriac. It is an intense, gourmand and elegant wine. Château Nodoz also produces an "Vieilles vignes" cuvée, from plots located in Bourg en Gironde. The 2017 vintage has a fruity nose and a silky, elegant palate with a bright finish. The aromatic bouquet offers pronounced fruitiness, marked by red fruits.
The "Château Galau" cuvée is made from grapes grown on Lansac land and harvested at full maturity. The 2019 vintage was awarded a silver medal at the 2021 Concours Agricole de Lyon. This is a supple wine, with a beautiful structure blending fruity aromas with more woody notes. It can be enjoyed young, or with a few years' cellaring. Rosé de Nodoz is a fresh, full-bodied wine. Its aromatic palette is fruity, with a predominance of white peach.
