The winemaker
In 1993, Chantal and Gerard Perse (also owner of Château Pavie) resumed this area steeped in history, located just 500 meters from the south coast of Saint Emilion. It is the revival of Monbousquet and the beginning of the development of a great wine. In the months following the arrival of Gerard Perse to Monbousquet, the production data are completely redesigned both side vineyard (entirely restructured and drained) that side cellars, including new advanced facilities and the creation of a winery aging necessary to develop a great wine. These efforts are soon to bear fruit and Monbousquet rises in 2006 to the rank of Grand Cru. Thus, the thought becomes in a few years one of the flagship products of the appellation, making tell Robert Parker: "Every Monbousquet product under coach Gerard Perse is exceptional. At present, this wine is probably the Saint Emilion, except the Bordeaux, the most exotic and most sensual. " The vineyard is 31 hectares composed of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Monbousquet wines are provided with spectacular color from their bottling, with pronounced aromas of roasting and cocoa, with no heaviness. Even in Pomerol, few wines equal the present texture of pleasure in the latest vintages.
