The winemaker

Born into a family of winegrowers five generations ago, Xavier Landeau runs the Landeau vineyards with a constant concern to make the most of each of the natural elements (terroir, grape varieties, age of the vines) and to enhance their diversity and personality. Landeau Vineyards comprises 3 estates: Château Mirambeau-Papin (Bordeaux Supérieur), Château Courrèges (Premières Côtes de Bordeaux) and Domaine Grange Brûlée (Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur). The estate's ambition is to offer "every possible flavour". Xavier Landeau, a scientist by training, manages his estates according to four key principles: Agronomy, Oenology, Technology and Meteorology. Château Mirambeau-Papin focuses on a forgotten Bordeaux grape variety: Petit Verdot. Reputedly very difficult to vinify, it produces wines of the highest quality, with impressive vivacity. This is probably why, of the three estates, Château Mirambeau-Papin is the Revue du Vin de France's favorite. Its typicity and complexity make it a great wine, at a more than reasonable price for the region. To keep the generosity of Petit Verdot in check, Château Mirambeau-Papin wines are made with Merlot for velvetiness, Cabernet Franc for finesse and freshness, and Cabernet Sauvignon for structure.
