The winemaker
To welcome members of her family scattered across Europe, Jeanne Clary (1853-1922) carefully and tastefully renovated Château Le Thil, a traditional Bordeaux residence whose interior design is a jewel of the Second Empire. Extensive work was carried out on the chartreuse, including lateral extensions, transformation of the facade with the creation of large bay windows, and total interior refurbishment under the direction of Eugène LAMI (1800-1890). Their descendants still sit on the thrones of Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium and Luxembourg. The heirs of Nicolas, Comte Clary and Jeanne Clary, Comtesse Duffour de Raymond, remained owners of Château Le Thil until August 2012, when Florence and Daniel Cathiard acquired it.
